Tradition and History

A line of institutional construction for the employers, begun in the 19th century and carried forward today.

The National Romanian Entrepreneurship aims to continue the efforts towards the institutional construction for the employers started since the 19th century and acknowledges the pioneer’s work of the great forerunner Nicolae Cristea (October 14th, 1834 – February 7, 1902), priest, professor, journalist and politic figure, an outstanding personality of the Transylvanian Memorandum generation.

Being founder (1867) and president (1867–1897) of the first Romanian employers-like association, Reuniunea Sodalilor Români din Sibiu (The Reunion of the Romanian Journeymen from Sibiu), we render homage to Nicolae Cristea as a tutelary personality of The National Romanian Entrepreneurship and of the institution of employers in Romania.

Starting 1995, some founding members of ANROM got involved in the activity of the first employers federations, reactivated or created after Romania’s come-back to the democratic system.

After a working period in the federative structures of that time, the founding members of ANROM reached the conclusion that it’s necessary to establish a new organization, able to ensure an enriched efficiency, in the representation in the federative frame of the employers and also from the point of view of its own activities. This way, in 2002 has been established The National Romanian Entrepreneurship, according to the legal frame newly created by the Law of the Employers (Law no. 356/2001).
